I have had a nuvi 350 for a number of years and I just recieved a nuvi 1300LM for Christmas. Is there a way for me to transfer the waypoints in my 350 to the 1300?

I didn't get much documentation with the 1300 so I'm puzzled about a number of things about it.

Thanks,
Bill

You should be able to just copy from sd card to sd card.

After some research it seems you would have to manually input the POI's again manually. From one GPS to the other you cannot just transfer them over.

Sorry :(

Thanks for the correction. I still have a reminder to reply to your earlier response but I didn't remember seeing a SD card slot in the new nuvi. It is always in the car and I haven't thought of this issue when I was around the newer nuvi. I still intend to investigate more fully the capabilities of the new nuvi but I'm pretty busy and I haven't gotten around to it yet!

Thanks
Bill

I have finally looked at this issue seriously and I've solved my puzzles. It turns out the nuvi 1300 does have a slot for a micro (?) SD card. I don't know if micro is the correct prefix but the card is about one quarter the size (physically) of a normal SD card. I also learned that I can plug my nuvi 1300 into my laptop and copy my waypoints that were saved from my nuvi 350 via MapSource, copy those waypoints into the nuvi 1300 and they work there as far as I can tell. That clearly answers my original question.

Thanks for being interested.

Bill

Great news!
Thanks for posting up the solution you came up with!

Edit*
I was under the impression you were trying to transfer POI's from a garmin to a Nuvi. Not sure why I got confused there I do apologize  .

Ahh this is where I got mixed up at, I do apologize!

Just to clarify, I was transferring from a Garmen nuvi 350 to a Garmen nuvi 1300. But I wasn't able to do that directly partly because they use different formats for their POI's. But the nuvi 350 came with a PC program called MapSource and it can save POI's in either of those two formats. It already contained the POI's from the nuvi 350 so I just exported them in the 1300 format into a file on the PC and then used the file manager to rename the file to the proper name and to copy that file onto the nuvi 1300. It worked fine and as far as I can tell the 1300 can use them fine.
