I work in the Gulf and want a good GPS device that I can use when in the States but also for the Gulf States and Asia. What is a good device that meets these needs and what extras might I need in terms of any additional add-ons to handle these additional maps.

Look for brands that have maps of all those areas. Normally a GPSr will only come with mps preloaded for a single geographic area and additional mapping will need to be purhased to cover additional areas.

Now that could become a thing of the past with manufacturers playing around and introducing geo-fencing.
