How do I get my 276c to recognize/store custom waypoint symbols/icons??? I've created the icons in the proper format. They are recognized by MapSource and appear correctly on my maps-mapset on my PC. When I download the mapset to my unit (512 MB Datacard in unit) they do not appear either on maps, or in the menu. A little frustrating.

Does anyone have any advice??? THANKS!!

I'm not sure that the 276c supports custom icons (link) but on other Garmins the free program xImage (link) can be used to upload icon files.

Quote:
What is xImage? xImage allows you to retrieve and update images on your GPS. For example, xImage makes it possible to get a screenshot from most GPS models. In addition, with certain newer models, xImage allows you to update some images (splash screen, waypoint symbols, etc.) with your own creations.

Custom waypoint images are stored in the internal memory of the gps, so if the 276c supports these images they are definitly not uploaded with your mapsets.

So how do the "Custom waypoint images" get to the internal memory??? Since there is a place in the memu for custom icons, there must be a way to load them.??

When you have connected your 276c to your pc and you run this program, you only see what is possible for your 276c, so if you can't find something like "waypoint symbols" than you can be sure that your 276c does not support this.

This page explains in detail how to create a custom waypoint and transfer it to your gps and Mapsource (link)
I have tried it myself and it works, so now I have my own symbols in Mapsource and on my 60CSx.
