I know that NOAA RNC charts are free to download (e.g., http://www.charts.noaa.gov/OnLineViewer/11009.shtml). My question is, do any existing GPS' allow you to load these maps? I really don't want to spend $250 or more for the Blue Nav charts every time I decide to go someplace new. Any thoughts?

The NOAA RNC are really designed for use on the PCs. You will need a PC software that can read the chart files. You can connect your GPS to your PC, and depending on your PC software, it may be able to show your location real time on the charts. Usually, most GPS that has a connecting port will send out NMEA data.
