New to gps - I know it is used to see where one is, but can it be used to take a virtual trip somewhere? Like I sit in my rockingchair and look at one of the maps in the gps unit?

It's certainly possible to scroll around the maps on handhelds. Somebody with an automotive unit will have to comment on those.

On my 60CSx I have an option called Demo Mode. I can activate a route and have the marker travel this route.

Go to Main Menu->Setup->System. Under "GPS" you will find Demo Mode.

I don't have a route yet, I'm just learning this thing. Is there a sample route installed on the gps?
