I purchased MapCreate 7 thinking it would be a great item to go along with my iFinder H2O c.

I was wrong. The maps are at least 4 plus years old. many streets are not on it and expressway exits are marked wrong because of re numbering of them several years ago.
I would caution anyone wishing to purchase MapCreate 7 to make sure they are able to check out the software first. I was not able to check out MapCreate 7 ahead of time and that ended up to be a mistake.

Well, I'm not a Lowrance owner but I have used their products in the past. I have a (probably) dumb ass question. Why did you buy a TOPO product if you wanted street mapping? Do they sell the Navteq maps for your unit?

I'm asking because Garmin's TOPO's would not be my first selection if I wanted good street mapping. Their TOPO's don't update very often but City Navigator (Navteq) is yearly (me thinks).

They do seem to sell MapCreate as a street product but call it a TOPO. Strange! I see they have Navteq maps for the iWay units.

Good to know. I was about to purchase Mapcreate 7, but this info, along with all the other grimps about their SD reader, etc., is making me search for decent shareware (an unsuccessful search thus far). Just installed a Baja 540c. This stuff is all new to me. Very dissappointed the Baja 540c does not have more street detail in the on board map. So far, my Blackberry is more useful when just using google maps (although location accuracy can be way off in rural areas).

:x I just bought the new HDS-5 Baja and the Map create 7. Boy what a wast of money. I thought that I was getting the latest and greatest play-toy. Can`t even find the street I live on. Downloaded the Map create 7 and well...found half of my street and a whole lot of mistakes to boot.(ea) jeep roads that don`t go through, roads that do not exist, and roads that go over CLIFS..I called LEI and complained. They said that mapping technology isn`t perfected and that they use a vast amount of resources for their info and basically it is what it is. P.S. no returns. Now I am on a quest to find decent off road maps that I can use on this new HDS unit. By the way It isn`t the hot ticket that I thought I would be. I am still playing around with it but there are quite a lot of areas for improvement. (ea) when you zoom to max or almost max you loose definition on the contour lines. Probably the map program fault. Anyway I need help in finding good maps. Anyone out there know of something that will work. Can you convert say Mapsource to the Lowrance language?? Thanks
