The reason I find this odd is because when the radio is on I have full bars on my Magellan 2200T but as soon as I switch the source to CD I lose the signal almost immediately, turn the source back to radio and it's full again.

Why would the CD cause problems but not the FM stations? I know that all electronic devices have to accept interference but this seems like a rare oddity since I could only find one other person with the same problem (a guy on a Jeep forum who also has a dash mounted GPS but a Garmin)

Another odd thing is that as the song came to an end I had a couple bars turn green until the next song started, but not enough to establish a signal.

It turns out it's not actually the CD player but rather the USB built into the CD player. I have a thumb drive plugged in and when its on and being read by the stereo I lose signal but just a cd or the radio doesn't cause any interference.

It stilll seems odd that even the usb would cause a problem with the signal

I think I've got your answer, lessthansix. Most likely you have your car charger plugged in and the cord is near the cd player which is causing the interference. Try removing it and see what happens.

You were absolutely right, lessthansix. I have a rechargeable battery in my gps but I was leaving the chord connected because it was more convenient. After removing it though the interference went away and so did a recent hemroid flare up. Although I don't think the two were related.
