When I bought my copy of City Navagator North America I was told that it would be available the first of the year as a Mac friendly version. I wrote Garmin who told me that it is not available now but they didn't give me a date. Does anyone have a clue as to when it might be available?
Thanks,
Michael

I just sent off an email to Garmin pointing out that they had announced on Jan 06 that their software would be available to Mac users by the end of the year. Here is the response that I received:

Thank you for contacting Garmin! We do not have a release date for
Mapsource on the Mac. There has been a half dozen press releases on
that since the one you have chosen to mention stating the release date
is going to be pushed back. Thank you for choosing your guidance by
Garmin.

I suspect that because all the new Macs are running on Intel chips and have the capability of running Windows in native mode, that Garmin's incentive to port their software line to the Mac OS may become non-existent. If anyone else knows more, please let us know.

Who told you that? Someone at Garmin, or at some store?

I don't know any more than anyone else. However, I'm pretty sure Garmin will make good on their promise to release Mac OS software. They've already released the Mac OS version of their Training Center software:

http://www.garmin.com/products/trainingcenter/

This was released well after the Mac Intel chip switch so I see no reason why they wouldn't continue to port their other software to Mac OS. After all, just because a Mac can run Windoze doesn't mean every Mac user wants to pony up for a Windoze install (let alone use the archaic Windoze interface! ). Let's just hope they don't let yet ANOTHER year go by before the Mac MapSource software release!
