Hi All,

I want to transfer location data (Co-Ordinates) from
GPS Receiver (Don't Know) ----> Any Mapping Software (like ArcGis).

Now
1.) Can i do this by any GPS technology.
2.) Is it possible to draw a graphical map by using co-ordinates collected by the GPS device. if yes then what should be proper way or any web link.
3.) Can we associate attributes (e.g. characterist) of map to our .NET application.

Thanks in advance !!

Bharat

In general, you can transfer GPS coordinates (waypoint locations) from a GPS to mapping software. However, not all combinations work. It really depends on which GPS and which map program. I don't know if ArcGis can directly import GPS data.

The Minnesota DNR has an ArcView extension for importing Garmin data.

There are less costly ways of doing it than ESRI. Map Maker will import GPS data, reproject if needed, directly from the GPSr, or import text files of spreadsheets with XY coordinates if the data have been saved that way. Once imported then there are loads of drawing tools to make maps.

The California Department of Fish and Game website also has some programs available for working with Arcview. Its been awhile when I had the Arcview 3.x and dont remember the particulars or the link but its under GIS data or GPS tools or something like that.
