A couple of days ago I picked up 2 new GPS satellites on my Map 76CSx. # 12 I know was launched mid-November and is obviously being setup. I also picked up # 32 (or so the GPSr reported). Both satellites were shown with fully blocked signal strength bars and were positioned on the North marker on the Satellites page. My question is what is # 32? Was my GPSr mis-reporting or what?

PRN/SVN 32/23 - Old SVN23/PRN23...Currently in non-standard code...(link)

It looks like they assigned a new PRN number to SVN23.

What has been re-activated as PRN32 is the first Block IIA launched November 26, 1990. It was de-activated on February 13, 2004

SVN23 was initially reactivated with a non-standard code which cannot be
tracked by standard GPS receivers. However, it is now transmitting the
standard PRN32 code. Nevertheless, the satellite is set unhealthy and may
remain so as it has been reactivated for test purposes.

SNV23/PRN32 has been trackable since December 2, 2006 for those receivers that can track both healthly and unhealthly satellites.

Further to previous comments SVN23/PRN32 is no longer transmitting L-band freq beyond Dec 6.

SVN23/PRN32 will not appear again now until approx January 10, 2007, which at this time will still be set unhealthy and not included in the almanac.
