Hi All,

I was hoping to get a bit of advice, I am making an Iphone app which can track an item using GPS, which can preferably be put into a key ring (or something of similar size).

Can anyone recommend any products or techniques which would be best for this. As it will be competing with other Apps I need to it be pretty cost effective so it can be mass produced.

Any advice you can give me is appreciated.

Cheers,

Billie.

Google is your friend. There are a number of gps tracking type devices, including one made for children/small animals. They are not small enough to fit on a keychain - they require a battery, a gps chip, circuits, and a radio of some sort to transmit their location. It is not something you can easily build yourself. The item you are tracking receives a gps signal, and sends its location via radio, typically cellular, which requires a monthly fee per device. A typical tracking device costs about $ 200, plus $30 per month for cellular tracking. Also due to the nature of the GPS signal it can be hard to find devices that are within large buildings since the buildings tend to block the gps signal. Also the devices only work where there is cellular or some other radio service, so they won't work out in the wilderness.

I know there are many kinds of phone tracking device in the market now, you can just Google for it.
If you are not good at IT or phone software, making an iphone spy may be difficult for you.

The OP is not looking for something to spy on an iPhone; they want an app for the iPhone to track a device.
