I'm not going to rant and rave here, although I feel the need to.

I have had my 500C for close to 2 years and recently watched a problem develop.

The unit started jumping from 3-D mode to "North Up" mode on its own while moving. Now, the screen will not respond to any "touch commands" such as trying to remove the Warning splash screen at boot. Therefore I can' t go beyond that point.

I have written to Lowrance twice describing the issue and have gotten no reply. Not even a "we''ll get back to you" canned message.

I have called the suport line and waited over 40 minutes each time and still not gotten any help.

Now, I'm about to make a fleet purchase for 37 vehicles and while I have been pretty happy with the performance, I am not the least bit happy with the support. The purchase price of my 500C was $695 and I'm not inclined to invest in Lowrance if this is typical of the result regarding probpems and support. I'm looking at Tom Tom and Garmin and any idea as to how to correct the 500C problem would be appreciated or any direction regarding the other barnds would be helpful.

Larry

Lowrance has not been known, at least in motorcycle circles, as a customer-friendly company. Weigh your purchase decision by that. I think my iWay 500c is among the best hardware out there, but the software that drives it needs a LOT of work, but then so do most of them.

Your screen might need cleaning around the seams. Carefully separate the cover, taking care not to damage any of the seals, and clean the whole face of the screen, then reassemble. This has helped others with the problem you describe.
