Hello,

My name is Vincent and I live in France.
I've just bought an Explorist XL from US so the GPS is provided with an american BaseMap.

- I'd like to upload the european Basemap instead of the american one.
Do you know where I can fin the european BaseMap (Can I write to Magellan support to ask for this version ? Is it free ?). Could you tell me if I can upload it into the Explorist XL (is it difficult ? is there a risk ? is there an incompatibility between the european basemap and the Explorist XL US ?).

- I'd like to know if I can try some friend's magellan software (directroute, mapsend, topo) before buy them or if magellan softwares need hardware serials, etc.

- I'd like to know why there'a a difference between the version of the software update of the european modele and the american modele. Are some magellan softwares not compatible with the european or american models ?

Basemaps for the Explorist series can be found here

However you do not need to change the basemap if you have access to the Mapsend World Wide Basemap. As you can place a European basemap into the SD card and use the GPS as normal without altering anything. I know as I have the same US model and have already done this with it.
