Unfortunately my Platinum was stolen from my car.

I have Mapsend NA, cables, case, mounting bracket - use about 75/25 hiking vs driving.

So looking to buy a replacement. Can't say I was crazy about ease of use of nor features of Mapsent - seems (not direct, just casual observations) Garmin was easier to use softare/navivation wise, but it's not a critical issue.

I got used to altimeter, probably would like color - not super critical. Is the 600 the best options? 210 seems a bit too bare bones. Or should I consider the Garmin 60cs...see it can be had via kohls.com (suprisingly) for $250 after rebate. But would need garmin road software. Decisions, decisions - help!

Thanks.

is this a quantum leap in battery life and coverage in forests? Or just marginal.

Sorry to hear about your Platinum.

I stayed with the Magellan because of their "trade up" program. I traded in my old Map410 for an eXplorist XL. There are programs on the net to modify your old Mapsend to eXplorist format. I just bought the latest Topo. I use mine for business, fishing, hunting. I like the Magellan because they have been really durable. I use mine in saltwater environment frequently.

Good luck.
