dale, between this and the magellan roadmate 760 would the downside of the 800 be the lack of the text to speech for street names and the bugs you listed? The example you mentioned with the "right turn off of the freeway" makes me leans towards the 760. Any suggestions on whether the 760 or 800 is better? seems like the 800 has more features 3D map, internal battery, design. Am i overlooking some of the 760's cons?

but with both online for almost the same price, its hard to decide since its my first gps system. which would you go with?

I recently got a AAA Magellan Roadmate 800 and have a few questions I was hoping someone could assist with.

1. Ive seen some folks with other GPS systems that allow you to mark 'points' along the way and later connect to a PC to show where you have traveled (or make a route out of the mark points) - I dont see any way to do this with the 800 - is that correct?

2. I installed MS Mappoint which looks for a NMEA 2.0(???) compatible device. I dont think the 800 supports this, or could it?

3. The software provided allows me to create POI files but I have to use Latitude and Longitude to pick a spot.....this is not very convient for most end users I would suspect. I dont see a way that I can get to my 'Saved Locations' to possibly create a custom POI with any of the software provided?

4. I have the 2006 edition, however there are alot of roads/businesses not listed in the DELMARVA area (like Starbucks and such which have been there over 2 years). I presume there is no way for me to add a street to the system or a business unless I have the Lat/Long? Idea when the 2007 maps would be out?

5. I saw someone mention GPS TrackMaker as a way to create your own maps. From the website you need to have the GPS unit connected to the computer while you are driving? Some of the routes I use dont coincide with what the 800 wants to take me - Id like to program these routes for my wife to use when Im not in the car - is this possible?

Thanks in advance for any help!
