Using the above, I create a route with, for example, 6 waypoints (A, B, C, D, E). I begin navigation to the 1st waypoint A and the intention is that as A is getting close, it is desired for the unit to then display the 2nd waypoint in the list namely B. However, because waypoint C is nearer to waypoint A, the unit elects waypoint C instead of waypoint B. How can |I get this unit to elect the waypoints in the desired order A to B to C to D to E to F regardless of the distance between one waypoint and another? Thanks

Moved to the Garmin forum.

I don't know the answer to your question but there is a detailed discussion on routes at the following:

When the selected Route Page opens up, it displays the waypoints in an order to be selected. Hi-lite the waypoint that you want in the first position, and press Entr, and select Move. Then use the Rocker to move it to the A slot. Then select the next waypoint, that you want to go to next, and move it to B, the second position. Keep moving until you get them in the order that you want.

Thanks Xyzee.

However, either I've not presented the problem correctly or you have misinterpreted it.

I have the waypoints in the order I need them. So, the correct order is A, B, C, D, E and F. In use, I start navigating to waypoint A. When I get near A, the GPS has been set to display the "next" waypoint. However, instead of displaying B, it goes to C. Why? Because C is geographically nearer to A than B is. How can I make the unit proceed in order from A to E and prevent it from selecting the geographically nearest waypoint? Thanks.

OK, I'm "mysteryfied" on that problem, as when I have a route made up 600 ft X 1500 Ft, it always goes to the long end, when directed, rather than to the closer waypoint, like you are having. Got to put on the Test cap, and try some dinking around with this. Hmmm...

I made up two different waypoint sets, trying to duplicate your description, and both of them went to B, like they were suppose to, even though B was 300 ft away, and D and E were 20 and 30 feet away. Tried with the Route Transition Setup in Manual and Auto.

On page 37 of the manual you can find something about "route transition".
I don't know exactly what they mean, but maybe it is something to look at.
