Have been running a 76CSX for several years now. I also have the Oregon 550 but for some reason I still prefer the 76CSX and use it extensively outdoors locating waypoints. The other day for the first time, bearing pointer disappeared when I got within about 300 yards of my destination. Satellite reception was good. Thought perhaps I needed to calibrate the compass, the compass would not calibrate at all. Was completely unresponsive. New batteries, all software updated through web updater. Sometimes the pointer still disappears when getting withing a few hundred yards of my waypoint, sometimes it works flawlessly. Thoughts or ideas?
