Anyone have impressions, thoughts on the Garmin Oregons? (http://garmin.blogs.com/my_weblog/2008/07/plan-a-visit-to.html)

I'll be interested to see how the touch screens holds up in an outdoor environment (Dust, mud, insect repellent, etc.)

The wiki is up and running here:

http://garminoregon.wikispaces.com

And as of this morning I have an Oregon 400t in my hands. Photos, screen shots and some first impressions are here:

http://garminoregon.wikispaces.com/First+Impressions

Its pretty "stream of consciousness" right now but it'll evolve into a review, FAQ and hopefully other useful information on the product line.

Thanks to Scott, Rich and Sam, for great detailed reviews. I was very upset with my new Oregon 300 with lack of features. But after reading these posts, I realized that it was actually the poor job done by Garmin to get the owners manual.

I still have some questions about my Oregon not addressed in the wiki:

1. (About Profiles) I deleted the factory provided profiles . How do I recover them?
2. (Navigation Map) How do I change vehicle icon to the ones I just installed from Garmin Garage (this blue triangle is really terrible)?
3. (About POIs) Does the Oregon can sound alerts when approaching speed cameras/speed traps like NĂ¼vi does using POI Loader?

I don't think there is any way to restore the default profiles unless you saved the profile directory. Garmin can probably help here.

The Oregon doesn't support vehicles (Garmin Garage).

I've never tested it myself but since the Colorado supports POI alerts I think it is safe to assume that the Oregon does.
