just purchased a nuvi 760 with blue tooth. I do not have a blue tooth just yet but plan to buy one very soon. My question is why do I not see the "Phone" icon on the screen when I turn on the unit? Do I have to pair a phone to it before that will appear or what?

Yes, buttons appear after pairing with a phone.
Same is for TMC receiver and Tourguide buttons.
