No recent entries that I could find here, so...
I would like to replace my older NAV unit, and particularly would like it to display the altitude. I don't understand why manufacturers deem this to be an irrelevant feature in a car receiver. We live (and drive) in the mountains, so would like to know where we are in 3D. I do understand the limitations of the altitude component, but it can't be any worse than an uncorrected barometric altimeter (not easy to compensate for weather patterns as you drive).
Another desirable feature in a GPS would allow the user to "scan around" their present position without having to disengage the "follow map" function. This would allow the user to see a wider area without having to zoom out, and losing the local resolution (like trying to navigate around a traffic jam, etc).
Do either of these features exist in current units? What would you recommend?
Thanks, Joe
