Hi Guys,

First of all I just want to say these are some great forums you have here, this is my first post.

Here are my GPS needs:

I currently own and operate ONE mobile billboard (a van with a large electronic display on it) in the Los Angeles area. I would like to have a gps device in it so that the customers who I sell the ad space to can log into (or even just visit) a website and see where the vehicle is at any given time.

I have contacted several companies and have gotten some incredibly high prices + monthly fees.

Does anybody have any ideas on how I might be able to do this on the less expensive side and/or without monthly fees?

What you are describing is a vehicle location system, not a consumer GPS. A GPS by itself does not broadcast anything; it only receives signals and uses the information to locate itself at lat/lon. In order to report it's location, it needs a radio or cell phone to report the location back. this means the system you are looking for is a combination of radio/cell and GPS and since it's cell based most likely there will be monthly fees and they are not all that cheap.
