The 60Cx is newer and adds a removable microSD™ card and high-sensitivity GPS receiver. It also supports Custom POIs (ability to add additional points of interest)

The physical size and shape and screen are the same as the 60C.

my boyfriend wants this for christmas and I have no idea about GPS. He did say owever, make sure you buy the CX and not the C one. We do a lot of snowmobile in the woods, so would that still be a good buy (the C) ? what is the price range for both?

The 60C is no longer made so go with the Cx. You don't say where you are but it lists for $260 at GPSCity (link)
