I have an old serial GPS board, and it has an antenna connector (as to what type I haven't the slightest) that has an adapter that hooks up to an active GPS antenna that I have. I want to take the antenna module out of the housing and cut the 25 foot cable that leads to it and solder it directly onto this board, to make the project as small as possible. I'm assuming that I would have to leave the shielding to not impact the impedance of the cable, but should I be able to desolder the antenna connector from the board and solder the cable to it? I can provide pictures of what I am talking about if I don't make any sense...

. Thanks!
