I got a nasty virus and had to have my PC hard drive cleared and all my software reinstalled. Now I’m trying to re-install Map Source (version 2.02) from the original CD I bought. That appears to work OK.

I then go to the Gamin update page and download the latest version 6.16.2 (57.36 MB) to my C drive. But when I try to run the executable file, I get this error message:

This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

I don't know what that means. So I can’t update my MapSource.

Also, I have the three US Topo map CD I bought at the same time (2006). I have not been able to get them to work either. The CD package has a serial number, but it is a letter and 9 numbers, not the 8 number or 25 number unlock code they talk about. I don’t remember having to unload the map disks the first time.

This really frustrating; I installed all this stuff back in 2006 and everything worked fine. Now I need to reinstall it and I can’t seem to get anything to work.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

OK, I got my Garmin topo maps to load from the CD's. But I still can't run the 6.16.2 (57.36 MB) executable file I downloaded to my C drive. When I try to run the executable file, I get this error message:

Found my answer. I was missing a C+ file from SP! for a 32 bit machine. Downloade it, installed it and the Garmin up date with through just fine.
