I have 2 tracks saved on my GPS unit, however when I connect to my computer I can't load them. The only one that downloads is the first tack. When I go to "open" I can find the most recent trip and upload that into MapSource but I cannot get the second trip. Has anyone had this problem before? :?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

I would try to retrieve your tracks by using a program call easygps. You can download that free. Then you can transfer that file into your garmin map program.

Nope, didn't work. I can see the tack on the GPS unit, but my computer can't find it

How are you trying to download the tracks? I don't have this model but I believe that if you have saved one of the tracks to the memory card you will have to put the GPS in Mass Storage mode and copy the file to your PC.

Have you considered using BaseCamp? With BaseCamp you simply highlight the waypoints, routes and tracks you want to transfer, then drag-and-drop them from your HCx to your computer, or vice versa. On the computer, you can even keep subsets of your data in different folders. BaseCamp also makes it much easier to edit your waypoint/route/track properties. Rather than try to edit properties using the kludgy editing tools on the HCx, you transfer the data to your computer, edit the properties in BaseCamp, then transfer the data back to you HCx. Another advantage of this ease of use is that I maintain and organize organize my data on the computer; then, rather than having to keep my entire inventory of data on the HCx, where it can be a nightmare to deal with, I can wipe the HCx of all data, then easily transfer just the data I currently need back to the HCx.

BaseCamp is included as part of the Garmin Topo 24k DVD I bought (not cheap - $130 list; $97 at Amazon). I haven't seen it available separately.

Personally, I find the Trip and Waypoint Manager software that comes with the unit to be user-unfriendly, to put it kindly. I needed the detail of Topo 24K anyway, so for me BaseCamp was free.
