I am trying to transfer my Garmin Topo, 24K TOPO and City NAV 2008 maps to my 60csx. It proceeds fine but locks up after some time. I see it complete over 50% but when I get back I get an error message. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

I have a 2GB card and the maps total 1.7 GB.

There is a limit to how many map segments you can put on 1 card. What error message to you see?

"There was an error communicating with your device. Please make sure that your device is turned on. If errors continue to occur, you may need to restart your device."

I never see when it stops but I did see 18% complete so I do not know why it is asking me if it is turned on.

I tried just City NAV 2008 and TOPO 24K (1.5 mb) but I got the same message.

On the 60CSX is locked up with "transferring data".

How many map segments are in your mapset? You can't load more than 2025.

I just checked to see how much space is on the 2 GB card and 1027.1 mb of maps are on it. Total used is 1031.1 MB. The card is 53% full. I was surprised by that and all I see is America Marine and Basemap. How can take up so much space? I did this download (City NAV 2008 + TOPO) before and never had this problem. Should I wipe the card of all data and start over?

Ok, you aren't answering the question.

The size of the file is one limit (2GB). However, there is a SEPARATE LIMIT of 2025 map segments.

In MapSource, under the Map Tab, check to see how many maps you are loading.

I saw 225.

If TOPO and City NAV are not on what map is taking 1 mb of space?

gmapsupp.img is one file and take 1.05 MB of space. Should I delete it?

If you only are showing 225 map segments, then are you mostly loading City Navigator and not loading much of the Topo maps. It that correct?

For the Topo maps, 1 GB will typically be around 2000 map segments or so. The whole country is over 6000 segments (I think).

City Navigator North America (all of it) is 64 segments and is around 988 MB.
