Hey everybody. I apologize if these are really silly questions that have been covered a thousand times.

My lovely girlfriend and I are planning on spending part of our summer traveling the back roads of eastern Oregon and Washington in our trusty Jeep, and we need a mapping solution to help us plan routes and keep from getting lost. We will be bringing my MacBook Pro with us, and I would like a mapping solution for us - something similar to Google Earth, but obviously without the requirement of an internet connection.

We need the following:
- Built-in maps at various zoom levels, preferably covering North America, and maybe Mexico, if possible.
- Ability to interface with a simple Bluetooth GPS receiver for position information.
- Routing with multiple waypoints.
- Breadcrumb tracking so we can follow our trail back if we get stuck.

We would like the following, if possible, but we can live without them:
- Live rerouting if we decide to take a detour.
- Topo maps.
- Ability to download more maps as needed. I don't mind filling up a hard drive with maps if it means covering absolutely anywhere we might want to drive.
- Spoken turn-by-turn directions.

We do not care if the software shows satellite imagery or not.

Please please help me find something awesome. Our Mac can run both Windows and Mac software, so either is fine, but of course, native Mac stuff is always best.

Thanks in advance!

Maybe you can try ZorroGPS. It has a free trial about a week. In this week, you can see if this one can meet your demands or not then you decide whether to buy it. 8)

I tried zorro and it was the worst software i have ever seen. No zorro is not worth the trouble.

There are many GPS brands like Tomtom, Garmin and Navigon. You could go www.gpsreview.com to get more information about them. A friend of mine tested the latest version of ZorroGPS and said it was fine. It is always right to look before you leap. Good luck!

I like this thread. OP asked about GPS for a summer trip, first reply is end of August. I'm thinking it might be too late to assist.
